It has been such a difficult week and we are going to one of the wakes tonight and the funeral tomorrow of a friend who was killed there. Thank you for posting something to take my mind elsewhere - somewhere where happy memories are.

My favorite Christmas memory is my family getting together on Christmas Eve for a light dinner and then us girls begging to wash the dishes (only time of the year we did that!) so we could open gifts. After that was over we all walked to Church. Called them up introducing myself as Santa's Elf to obtain more specific information on needs, wants, sizes and such for the family. I took letters of introduction around to companies and retailers after work hours, and did very very well, to the point that I grew from one family, to about 11 families affected, because I received too much to do 2 families my 2nd year. Every child received a few neat items on their list, games, lego etc., stockings, new clothing (sweatsuits, nike runners etc.), moms and dads received all the perfume sets from a big dept. store donation, christmas sox, and more..and as well I was able to purchase much needed items with cash donated, (babygates & formula etc.), and also supply Christmas day meals right up to the turkey and xmas candy, toiletries and canned goods to last through the winter too. I'd wrap each gift, tag and apply candy decorations. (8 hours of wrapping). They also rec'd used clothing in their sizes and trees & pointsettias, fruit baskets too! gift certificates for eating out. I put on a santa hat and delivered all day long with my car and trunk filled to the brim.

My goal was to give someone else a great Christmas like I had growing up, with all the fun, excitement and hope without all the worries.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030627897944334867.post-35038716949003312542007-12-09T03:41:00.000-08:002007-12-09T03:41:00.000-08:00When I was 8, we spent the night at my grandparent...When I was 8, we spent the night at my grandparents.
