Who wants some candy?

Happy Saturday everyone!

I thought that for today I would give away some blog candy. Up for grabs is three rolls of christmas ribbon, two adorable Christmas stamps from Michael's, a set of scalloped edged cards from DCVW, some bling and a set of clear stamps by Rhonna Farrer for Autumn Leaves.

All you have to do is tell me your favorite Christmas memory as a child. I think it would be great for everyone to read and get into the Christmas spirit if you are not there already!

I will pick a random winner on Monday 12/10 6PM Eastern time.

Good luck everyone!

Not sure if you wanted it this way but here goes...my father was in the hospital for recovery from back surgery - our neighbors pulled together and had Christmas for all us children - we were touched... we were I think like 9 8 and 2 years old (me, my sister, and brother) and one neighbor was dressed as santa...it was very memorable... :)

My fav memory was when my mom got us tickets for Disneyland. They handed us the airline tickets and we were a little non-plussed since we had never seen them before! Once my parents explained to us what they were, we could then get excited...

My favorite Christmas memory is spending time with both sets of my grandparents. Each house was very different. There was only me & my brother at one set of grandparents and 11 of us at my grandmothers. So I was able to have two very different experiences at both. I will NEVER forget the memories I have of them! It is not the same without them here.

My newest memories I am making are with my two girls. I love living the spirit of Christmas through them. It is the BEST!!!

my favorite memory....I was about 8 years old, we lived on a farm, and were not very wealthy....there were nine children. My parents sat us down, and told us that we would not have much for Christmas that year, as my Dad was laid off from work. Christmas morning we woke to find the most fabulous presents under the tree. Family, friends, neighbors got together brought gifts and food to our house Christmas eve. That year I got a doll, with a real lollipop, (which i got to eat) and stroller. It was my best Christmas........as Santa did make it to our house afterall.

oh PLEASE pick me.... the two Michael's near me never had those stamps!!!

My favourite Christmas memory.... hmmmmmmm.... I think it was probably the first Christmas that I was a Mom.... my oldest son was born in the spring of 1995 and while he was really too young to enjoy the Christmas that year, it was so exciting for us... knowing that we were passing down the traditions and wonder of the season.

My favorite Christmas memory is making the homemade pecan rolls with my mother on Christmas eve. We would put on a Christmas Carol follwed my It's a wonderful Life and make those rolls while singing and talking and tossing a little flour. Now we make them at my house and I can't wait to have kids to share the same magic with. Thanks for the chance at the candy. Happy Holidays!

I DO I DO! I can't resist candy and for sure this sweet candy you have! The one Christmas that I really remember is when I received a Suzie Homemaker Oven. My little sister was turning 1 year old a few days after Christmas and I got to make her first cake. Well of course there was another one for the family. I was so proud of it!
Thanks for a chance.

I tried to pull a fast one on my mom. I desperately wanted some mixes for my easy bake oven and there was a box under the tree that was the PERFECT size, so I thought it must be. So...I told my mom that I had peeked when it was in her closet and that I knew it was the mixes; she got mad and so I said, "Aha, I didn't really peek, but since you got mad, then I know it really is!!!" I was SO, SO, SO surprised when I opened it up and it was really a kit to make yarn octopi...which I actually really enjoyed! I still crack up when I remember back to that!

My favorite memory is making Christmas cookies with my mom and my aunts. We would all make a ton of different kinds of cookies and then make up plates of cookies and deliver them to neighbors, friends, anyone we could think of :)

My fav memory is the first year we went a got a real Christmas tree! It was so emotional as we always said we'd get a real one once we had children. Each Christmas would approach and we'd get out our sad, artificial tree, no children yet....we finally were blessed with our daughter thru adoption in 1999! Of course we still get a real tree every year and we're expecting our 4th child in the Spring!
Thanks,

My fav memory is, every year I would spend Christmas eve with my Dad and that side of my family. Every year my Uncle Doug would dress up as Santa for me, and sneak into the house, and for the life of me I couldn't ever figure out how he got down the chimney without me seeing him........or his beard catching on fire for that matter......LOL It wasn't until several years later that it dawned on me who it was. I absolutely love my Uncle to death, and even back then I knew just how much he really loved me too.

Oh, there are so many Christmas memories! I remember waking up so early on Christmas morning, usually around 4am. My parents wouldn't have gotten to bed until around 2am, so we were allowed to (quietly) get our stockings, but then had to wait till they got up to open the rest of our gifts. I still love getting stocking gifts!

I liked being with the family the best. I'm originally from the Pittsburgh, PA area, and now living in MD, with barely any family around, so I really miss being able to spend a bunch of time with most of the members of our huge family!!!

My favorite memories as a kid are the Christmas' where all of my family was together. I don't have my grandparents anymore and I miss them dearly. It has been over 10 years since we were able to have a Christmas with all of us since the first death. It truly makes me think of them at this time. I miss them dearly. I miss the times what we spent together and just loving each other.

OMG, what fun goodies you have there! My favorite memory...I was just thinking about it today when I was wrapping my daughter's gifts. It was when I got my dollhouse! I can remember opening all sorts of fun furniture but I was so disappointed that I didn't have a dollhouse to put them in. Then Dad (an inventor) brought up a replica of our house (including the same carpet) from his workshop. I was so excited!
Thanks!

My favorite Christmas memory is of the year (1987) my third son (fourth child) was born on Christmas Day! I was very good at predicting the day my kids would be born, and my Mom said she went to bed finally about 2:00AM (because all my kids were born shortly after midnight) thinking that I had been wrong on 'this one'. Her phone rang, just as she was hitting her REM sleep, apparantly, to announce the birth of her 13th grandchild (3 more followed in years to come)! She couldn't have been happier to be 'wrong'! After that first year, Bradley celebrated his birthday at Grandma's house ever since!

What great blog candy. I just love those stamp sets and ribbon. Yummy!

My favorite holiday memory is one we do every year. We have a get together with all the family on Christmas eve. We have a BIG dinner and talk and have fun. Then one of the guy's dresses up as santa and hands out gifts to everyone and we sing and open gifts. It's a lot of fun! I look forward to this night every year.

Thanks for this chance to win sweet candy! One of my favorite Christmas memories as a child was the year our family went to Texas to visit relatives, and we got to go swimming on Christmas Day! (This was so exciting because we live in Canada, and usually have 3 feet of snow!)
Blessing to you this Christmas Season!

just having my grandparents alive is my best memory. I still have the cards I gave them last year before my gramma died in 1966. They were the best example of love I ever saw.

When I was 8, we spent the night at my grandparents. In the morning I went downstairs to find a lit Christmas tree and presents under it. I got my first wristwatch and it was so thrilling. I was a snooper so usually knew what I was getting and I had not found that watch.

For several Christmases, I contacted Family Services & got a single moms name with ages of her children who were not going to have much of a christmas. Called them up introducing myself as Santa's Elf to obtain more specific information on needs, wants, sizes and such for the family. I took letters of introduction around to companies and retailers after work hours, and did very very well, to the point that I grew from one family, to about 11 families affected, because I received too much to do 2 families my 2nd year. Every child received a few neat items on their list, games, lego etc., stockings, new clothing (sweatsuits, nike runners etc.), moms and dads received all the perfume sets from a big dept. store donation, christmas sox, and more..and as well I was able to purchase much needed items with cash donated, (babygates & formula etc.), and also supply Christmas day meals right up to the turkey and xmas candy, toiletries and canned goods to last through the winter too. I'd wrap each gift, tag and apply candy decorations. (8 hours of wrapping). They also rec'd used clothing in their sizes and trees & pointsettias, fruit baskets too! gift certificates for eating out. I put on a santa hat and delivered all day long with my car and trunk filled to the brim.

My goal was to give someone else a great Christmas like I had growing up, with all the fun, excitement and hope without all the worries.

My favorite Christmas memory would have to be the year I spent hours snooping (I did this every year) and found a toy bowling set. Christmas day came & went with no one getting a bowling set. I couldn't ask since I snooped. Boxing Day (Dec 26th is Boxing Day in Canada) I get up & there is the bowling set on the table with a note that Santa forgot to leave it. lol

Thanks for a chance!!

My father was stationed overseas and we spent the year staying with my grandparents on their farm in North Dakota. A family friend dressed up as Santa and stopped by on Christmas Eve. My brother ran up and down the hallway excitedly, my little sister was screaming in terror and I just stood there in wide-eyed wonder!

After the tragedy in Omaha I am ready to think about something nice. It has been such a difficult week and we are going to one of the wakes tonight and the funeral tomorrow of a friend who was killed there. Thank you for posting something to take my mind elsewhere - somewhere where happy memories are.

My favorite Christmas memory is my family getting together on Christmas Eve for a light dinner and then us girls begging to wash the dishes (only time of the year we did that!) so we could open gifts. After that was over we all walked to Church. When Church was over we would walk home listening to the Church bells tolling and it was then Christmas morning 12:01 a.m. In the morning upon awakening Santa would have come and we would begin all over again. Such a fun and innocent time

My favorite Christmas memory as a child... my dad dressed up as Santa Claus and went around to all of our neighbors houses delivering presents and visiting. (This is when people actually knew their neighbors way back when!)

One of my earliest memories is shaking a box at age 3 and hearing it play music. Inside was a teddybear that I named Sandy Bear. I slept with Sandy for years to come & over 50 years later, he still sits on my bedroom dresser.

On of my favorite funny xmas memories was when we used to pick a real tree. Our truck was stolen and our rental car was a Ford Festiva (like a sardine can on wheels). We traveled well over an hour and put a 5 foot tree diagonal in the back to front seats with a two year old!

Thanks for the candy!

I loved decorating the tree with my Mom. My brother and stepdad were never that interested, so she and I would reminisce over each ornament as we decorated. She's coming to visit next weekend and she'll get to help decorate MY tree for the first time! Thanks for sharing.

My favorite memory is spending Christmas in Germany with my Grandparents and my entire family. We dragged a set of 4 year old twins, 2 kids, me (age 10) and my 12 year old brother, both parents and suitcases full of presents on planes, trains, buses, and cabs to get to my Oma's house. All that and we only lost one suitcase! My mother was so busy counting ours, that she left hers on the bus. I don't know how she did it, but I have great memories of those 2 weeks.

Lots of favorite Christmas's - the times we spent at my Grandparents with all the cousins (lots and lots) and the food and wrapping paper everywhere. Or the Christmas morning that my kids told me they heard Santa's sleigh bells in the night (I ran outside with bells and shook them by their bedroom windows before I went to bed :)

My favorite memory is one we just started this year, but I know we are gonna remeber it always. We decided that since I love to Play it Forward on SCS I made a gift basket with homemade crafts and cards and my family left it on one of our neighbours door steps. With a little note encouraging them to do the same thing! It was fun to give secretly and we plan on doing it every year. Thanks for the chance. May you and your have a wonderful holiday season!

I was raised by my grandmother and we only had her small social security check to live on. We made do. I remember one christmas we had people bring us a box of food and toys for me. I am not sure what organization it was being so small but I am thankful to those people we had a wonderful christmas because of them!

Going to my grandfather's house to be with the whole gang! 11 of us kids would go out on the hill behind his house and tie all of our sleds together. Seemed like a good idea - but we have some VERY funny videos of sleds gone wild and bundled up children getting tipped over!

Thanks for making me slow down for a minute for a wonderful memory!

My favourite memory, SAD, but true:
On Dec. 22/05 living 4 1/2 hr. away from the hospital my mom was in as a very sick patient, I was able to make the trip, in 7 hr., in a snow storm, to have a nice Xmas with my mom.As she was slowly loosing herself to the Angels. I was able to hold her as she slipped away to join others in Heaven. Just being there, with her in my arms, brought back so many good memories of her holding me, when I was sick.
